Tri-Cities Federal Election 2025 Candidate: Conservative canditate, Iain Black

Iain Black, representing the Conservative Party, sits down with Tri-Cities Community Television to share his vision for the future of the Tri-Cities and why he believes he’s the right choice in the upcoming election.

A long-time resident of the Tri-Cities and former MLA, Black brings a deep understanding of the region’s needs. “Civic leadership is about leading by example,” he says. He’s running because, in his words, “I’m desperately concerned about where we’re headed, and I want to help.”

Transportation is a top priority for Black. He highlights key infrastructure gaps that he says have gone unaddressed under the current federal government. “The Coquitlam River Bridge needs replacing, the Fremont Connector must move forward, and Coquitlam urgently needs an overpass over the rail lines,” he states. Black also criticizes the lack of progress on transportation under the current MP, saying Ottawa has been slow to act.

He also notes a growing disconnect between the community and incumbent MP Ron McKinnon. “What I keep hearing on doorsteps is that people don’t feel engaged or connected to their federal representative,” he explains.

What energizes Black the most, however, is the passion of young people. He’s inspired by the number of youth volunteering on his campaign. “You need to go where they are and invite them in,” he says, expressing a strong belief in youth engagement and inclusion in political processes.

With his mix of experience, local roots, and forward-thinking vision, Black hopes to bring stronger leadership and results to Ottawa on behalf of the Tri-Cities.
