Facebook Live Job Fair Held for Chéticamp and Surrounding Areas
In partnership with several local organizations, Support Services Group held a virtual job fair for Chéticamp and surrounding areas.
The company, which offers customer service outsourcing to businesses around the world, has a had a call center in North Sidney since 2001. Now it’s offering jobs to the bilingual community of northeastern Cape Breton, where employees can work from home.
Lisa Lavin, Director of Operations at Support Services, said she expects more jobs will open up in the future. “We are looking for to start a minimum of 15 people both bilingual and English, but there are more coming in the coming weeks,” she said. “We have opportunities for full-time permanent positions and we also have opportunities for part time or casual work depending on your schedule and what you would like. We’re a 24/7 operation, so we can be flexible with your schedule.”
The first part of the fair was broadcast through CHNE-TV on Facebook Live. Unfortunately, the Zoom portion of the presentation, where job seekers could meet with recruiters and ask questions had to be postponed until the next day due to power outages across the entire community.
People are invited to connect through Zoom on Thursday September 24th at 11 am and have their CV at hand.
In general, Support Services Group recruiters said they’re looking for people with customer service experience and internet access with a minimum of Min 2 mb/s (Uplink) and Min 5 mb/s (Downlink). Job applicants will have to pass a typing speed test and if selected, a paid training program starting on Monday September 28th.
