MOVERS & SHAKERS ON GABRIOLA: Georgi Georgiev and His Groundbreaking Bikes

With among the highest percentage of working artists in Canada, and as a place to which many creators are drawn, Gabriola Island has a unique culture. That makes artists, innovators, and entrepreneurs an essential part of both our vitality and economy -- and Georgi Georgiev is all three.

In this expanded coverage of the recent "Telling Island Stories" event at the Gabriola Museum, which we gave you a taste of on Wednesday, George recounts how he came to live on the island, and then went on to create the world’s fastest bicycle as well as bicycles for differently-abled individuals.

He is joined by world-record holding cyclist Sam Whittingham and multi-gold medal Olympian Daniel Wesley, who also recount their triumphs and adventures on Georgi's wheels. Also in this fuller-length version, enjoy Geneen Georgiev's enthusiastic introduction of her father, and a Q&A after the main presentations. It's an entertaining and inspiring event!
