Manitoba Start - The Leading Provider of Career Services for Newcomers
Getting a job can be a significant hurdle for newcomers moving to Winnipeg. They must prepare themselves and their skills to be suitable for the Canadian labour market because of the apparent differences between the markets of Canada and their countries of origin.
The Manitoba Start program welcomes newcomers and teaches them the basics of the Canadian labour market. The program works on preparing newcomers through its various programs to learn all the requirements that allow them to have the opportunity to work in Winnipeg. Such as how to search for a job, prepare a resume, cover letter, and job interviews to start their new life successfully in Winnipeg.
The eleventh episode of "Civic Platform" features Medina Puskar, Manager, Career Services of Manitoba Start - Winnipeg. Puskar speaks about the program's history, programs, activities, and workshops. Puskar also explains the programs and workshops that the newcomers and employers participate in. They exchange information on how to benefit from each other for the beginning of a strong partnership that ends with hiring and the opportunity to make newcomers productive in the Canadian labour market.
Over the years, Puskar has helped newcomers take their first steps to obtain their goals. Also, she worked hard to explain all the possible details and challenges they may face so that they could easily overcome them without wasting time or effort.
Zuher Almusre spoke with Supervisors, job developers, and Career Coaches, who talked about their experience, their role in the program's success and how they do their best to help their clients achieve their goals of settling and enjoying their new city.
