Women need care, especially when they are in a country other than their country of origin. Immigrant women to Canada face many challenges and difficulties in their new life. So, to overcome these challenges the women need help and support Women’s from specialized centres.

The Canadian Muslim Women’s Institute, CMWI, welcomes immigrant Women’s with their family to help them with the English language, how to raise their children in Canada, and providing nutritional and clothing support. Additionally, they teach them the basics of starting their new life successfully here in Winnipeg. 

From the organization's website -- The CMWI is a not for profit organization that was founded in 2006, working towards empowering women to become healthy and contributing members of Canadian Society. This is done, by understanding and focusing on the unique needs of the women, be it, newcomer women or long-time residents.

The Sixteenth episode of "Civic Platform" features Yasmin Ali, President, Canadian Muslim Women’s Institute, CMWI -  Winnipeg. Ali speaks to Zuher Almusre about the program's history, programs, activities, and workshops.

Ali also added that the program does not provide its service to Muslim women only, but also to all women and families who need help, the program's services are broader than its name.

Over the years, Ali has formed a team of immigrants who went through the same experiences, applying their knowledge and skills to help those who arrive in Canada today.

Zuher spoke with employees, volunteers, and clients, who talked about their experience, their role in the program's success and how they do their best to help women and their families adapt and integrate as quickly as possible into Canadian society.
